Daily maintenance
Cleaning
- Use the net [photo] to fish out debris. The bits can be dumped in the bushes
- Algae at the bottom of the pool can be scrubbed with the brush attachment [photo]
- If the pool is too dirty it might need to be vacuumed (see below)
Water level
The water level should be kept around halfway up the skimmer inlet. If it gets too low it can be topped up using the long hose.
- Unwind and attach the long hose [photo] to the tap
- Leave the other end of the hose in the pool for around 20 minutes
- After filling remove the hose from the pool as otherwise it can syphon the water out
Temperature
- The pool temperature should be below 30°C in order for the chemicals to work
- If the water starts getting too warm leave the pool uncovered at night
- Topping up the pool with the hose will also bring the temperature down
Pump pressure
- The pool pump & filter are in the barn at the end nearest the pool
- The pressure should be around 10 PSI
- Trapped air at the top of the filter inspection chamber should be released using the bleed valve so the water comes right to the top of the chamber
Advanced pool care
These tasks involve using the pool pump switch, using the filter selection control and operating the inlet & outlet valves.
Vacuuming the pool
- Get the blue pipe, pole & vacuum brush head from the barn
- Attach the pipe to the vacuum head and put it in the pool
- Switch the pump switch to Manual [image 019 not found] then hold the end of the blue pipe in one of the two water outlets until all the air has been pushed out of the pipe
- Push the end of the pipe into the vacuum inlet
- Switch the pump switch to Off [image 018 not found] then open the vacuum valve and close the skimmer valve
- Switch the pump switch to Manual [image 019 not found] and slowly move the vacuum brush around the pool, scrubbing the bottom
- When finished switch the pump switch to Off [image 018 not found] then close the vacuum valve and open the skimmer valve
- Switch the pump switch back to Auto
- After vacuuming the filter must be backwashed & rinsed (see below)
Backwashing & rinsing the pool filter
The filter uses sand to clean debris from the water. Backwashing cleans the sand by pushing water backwards through the filter to dislodge the collected debris. It can then be rinsed away.
- Switch the pump switch to Off [image 018 not found]
- Move the filter selection handle to Backwash
- Switch the pump switch to Manual [image 019 not found] to backwash the filter for about a minute. You should see the water clouding in the inspection chamber
- Switch the pump switch to Off [image 018 not found]
- Move the filter selection handle to Rinse
- Switch the pump switch to Manual [image 019 not found] to rinse the filter for about a minute. The water in the inspection chamber should become clear again
- Switch the pump switch to Off [image 018 not found]
- Move the filter selection handle to Filtration
- Switch the pump switch back to Auto
